The Glenncrest MADH and Dreaming Out Loud would like to invite all members of the Glenncrest neighborhood, community volunteers and organizations, to our third Community Garden Meeting.
Every month Phelps Stokes’ Programs for Africa and Freedom Endowment hosts a Palaver Hut, a symposium that creates an environment of productive dialogue on an important issue. This month’s event is entitled, “Women’s Entrepreneurship and International Partnership”. We are extending an invitation to you and hope to see you there. Space is limited, so please RSVP.

Meet the NHA Team

Curtis A. Watkins
Director, National Homecomers Academy


Curtis Watkins is the Director National Homecomers Academy, Phelps Stokes’ program designed to assist persons who are “Homecomers” – those who are returning to society following incarceration.  Before launching NHA, Mr. Watkins founded and was the Executive Director of LifeSTARTS Youth & Family Services, a nonprofit organization supporting youth and their families.  Mr. Watkins also promotes key partnerships, serving on three nonprofit Boards: Time Bank Youth Court, NPower of the Greater Washington Region, and the Ward 7 Nonprofit Network.  Additionally, Mr. Watkins is a 2007–2008 Nonprofit Roundtable Fellow. Mr. Watkins is frequently a featured speaker on issues related to youth development, violence prevention, and community development having appeared before congressional committee and city agencies as well as on television interviews.  You may contact Mr. Watkins at cwatkins@phelppstokes.org.

 


Kaneil Williams
Program Assistant, National Homecomers Academy


Kaneil Williams is the Program Assistant  the National Homcomers Academy. He comes from a background in secondary education, as an educator in the District of Columbia for the past four years. William T. Lawson
Program Associate for Data Evaluation, National Homecomers Academy


William T. Lawson is the Program Associate for Data Evaluation for the National Homecomers Academy. In addition to that, he is also a Community Change Agent. Mr. Lawson has been instrumental in reaching back to the community and touching the lives of many disadvantaged youth and adults.  His extensive speaking history consists of keynote lecturing at Georgetown University, Howard University, and the University of the District of Columbia; as well as inspirational speaking at Ballou S.T.A.Y. Senior High School, youth and adult transitional homes, Times Banking conference 2011, and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Contact Mr. Lawson at wlawson@phelpsstokes.org.
